This is a great milestone.
Out of interest, what have you had to replace along the way to that stellar mileage? (apart from tyres etc.)

Cam sensor, maf sensor, front OS wishbone, front OS wheel bearing, rear NS wheel bearing, brake light switch, starter motor, 2x alternator brushes, shocks. 4x Clutchs (part of the job) 1 fly wheel.

Not bad I’d say. Don’t forget it’s learners driving it which aren’t too sympathetic!

That's all to be expected - but no major turbo or engine rebuilds which is encouraging.
Do you use it for a driving school then?

I do indeed. Im also a R instructor so it’s been on the track a couple times when my L students want to hit the track!

4 Clutches !!!!! I dont think I could handle watching learners burning clutches, To be fair that is amazing and I can only wish mine stands up so well.

Darko

To be fair the clutches  were fine. It was the release bearing which gets noisy to the point I couldn’t cope! Fingers crossed for you mate.

She has done amazingly well and runs as sweet as a nut. Oil changes every 16k with either Selina or Fuches. It’s been by far the most reliable learner car I’ve had. Fingers crossed for everyone.

Seat folder handle  went at 58k and they didn't honour warranty. Front drivers wheel bearing, rear passenger wheel bearing (pain in the arse to change), cam sensor, maf sensor,  drivers wishbone, alternator x3 (twice was the regulator), starter motor, front passenger shock, exhaust flexy, coolant bottle,  just changed the engine too mounts. Bottom one was changed in 2015. 👍

Now at 174,000. Still running well but I think the head gaskets going to need replacing soon. She's starting to use oil which has never been the case. 😔

What sort of things have you replaced over that mileage ?? Mine has just hit 50k and I thought that was high for one of these cars its good to see yours is still going well at 174k as i need to keep mine for 3 more years so will probably be up at 100k by then.

Cheers Darko

Not bad at all for 174k miles and kudos for using her as she is meant to be, these cars are to be driven!
Burning oil my guess would rocker cover gasket or piston rings perhaps?
Is the rear axle still solid (no rust) at this mileage? I've read the spring perch plate can snap when it's badly rusted.  I've  used Dynax wax to protect mine.

The only bit of rust on it is the top of the front struts. It's as solid as when I collected it in 2012.
The piston rings were my first thought but we'll see in a couple weeks. I'm going to treat her to a decoke by hand as I'm off for the week. I'm also a race instructor so it goes round the track a bit but not for students.

Thanks Darko. She's a work horse so normally does 50 hours of lessons a week. I will miss her when she's retires! Lol

Abarth 500, 595 & 695 / Stupid design!

Yes my car has clocked up some mileage, (149,900!) and I've been lucky to only have one mechanical break down but today's took the biscuit.
On a lesson when I saw some steam coming up from the bonnet. Told the student to pull over, opened the bonnet and there's no coolant. To cut a long story short, the plastic connection between the thermostat and the pipe going to the expansion tank had broke. I know this seems like a, "but it has done almost a hundred and fifty thousand miles" but, this connection serves absolutely no purpose what so ever. I simply attached the pipe directly to the thermostat and jobs a good'en.
The only reason why that part is fitted is to break and hope that the owner goes back to them so they can scam a £200 supply and fit for a part which costs 20p!
4 hours lost today abarth. Grrrrrrrr

Lol Harry. I've got the HID headlight upgrade (when you see pure white headlights that are much brighter then the normal yellow headlights) it's annoying that they used these bulbs instead of a normal 99p option though! Grrrrr

Lol. It's a PY24W. It's the front indicator bulb used in a HID light for the Abarth. Be warned that its £24 and nowhere stocks it apart from main dealers that wanted £35!
