General Chat / Re: HELP please for prospective new owner..
« on: September 28, 2019, 08:52:31 PM »
What year are you looking at? Aren't the GT seats only a very recent addition earlier pp cars have leather/alcantara with carbon fibre laminate backs. (Which could also be specified separately) Unless you've seen the build spec sheet the only way to spot the LSD is to look for the label on the gearbox which is only easy to see if you take the battery box and ecu out! Earlier cars with PP will visually have manual gearbox, supersport wheels, aerial delete, leather/alcantara seats with carbon backs.

General Chat / Re: Record Monza Exhaust on Turismo

Really why not go for a comp? If you are stretched on finances go for a 16 or 66 plate with low miles, you'll have the Monza, a smidgen more go (not very noticeable though), the much more comfy and more hard core sabelt seats and the benefit of koni's all around, if you can find one with performance pack even better

General Chat / Re: Apple car play upgrade

5 inch isn't available car play enabled, changing to 7 inch is possible in theory but too involved and expensive to bother. I use a pillar mount for the phone and simply use the phone screen it is easier to use than the main screen that way as it is easy to reach without taking you eyes off the  road.

Is it not operated by vacuum through a solenoid switch?

Abarth 500, 595 & 695 / Re: Cable route for dash cam?
« on: April 06, 2019, 03:58:50 PM »
Mine all done, cable run behind headlining and down behind door seal, I removed the glove box to get good access, piggyback onto fuse in box behind the glove box, used a cig socket and shrink covered the plug and socket together (I think preferable to using a spurious and potentially dodgy adaptor better to use the dashcam manufacturers transformer). Strapped these securely with cable ties in a spare space on the left. Wiring wrapped and secured to avoid any chafing. Much better than using the 12v socket which I can now use for charging my phone again

2016 comp by the way

It'll be the same as mine secondary fuse box behind a panel at back of glove box. I'm looking to keep the rather bulky cigarette socket type plug so need somewhere that will have enough space. I've bought wiring and a cig socket plus piggy back just need to find a suitable layout. I hate untidy installs!

Difficult to know but it's possible the components differ quite a lot so much to change over. I'd be dubious about any engine parts firm a rolled car myself it may have been running upside down before the fuel cut out deployed

You don't need to take any trim off - there's enough give in the panels as fitted to slip the wire behind - then pop the cig ligher socket out of the centre console and you can feed the connections to the rear of it.

Is that on an S4? The cig lighter looks quite firmly fixed to me

TMC Motorsport / Thanks

I'd just like to make a note that TMC turned out great with a long on going issue with a part, got there in the end all good!

« on: March 24, 2019, 10:05:02 AM »
You need to talk to a decent fiat dealer (or maybe find their senior tech first and ask them in advance) I would guess that it can be done but a lot of dealers wouldn't b be switched on enough to try.
Personally I can't stand it in normal mode and heavier sport steering would be even better!

Never had add complaint from the neighbors, if you go steady it's really not that loud.

Just my opinion but from my point of viewing think tuning boxes are a bit imprecise, probably depends how long you will keep the car but they are always going to be slightly approximate on fueling. The other issue having tried them on diesels in the past is that the self learning on the ECU over time seems to realise that fueling is wrong and moderates the power increase (may or may not apply to a 595). I think a quality remap is a better option.

To be honest I saw it on Facebook and its a shame the Trofeo is going I never knew that to be honest that was such a good car they should keep it and get rid of the base model I was thinking of getting a second hand one in the future.

Just my opinion but I'd go for (and I did) go for a comp with performance pack it's very much the nearest to 'complete' abarth 500 you can get.

Thanks I’ll take a look at that method tomorrow but I’m hoping to not have any cable showing if possible.

I don't have any cables showing. I routed the cable along the roof panel, down the A panel, behind the dash, along the floor under the centre console, and tapped it into the feed to the cig socket.

How easy is it to get the trim off there? I was thinking to wire mine with a piggyback connection to the fuse box behind the glove box.

Wire it open it sounds better and probably pops more often (rare though TBH) because the flap is always fully open. The noise at low speed is hardly any different really.
