Aye Up,

I am given to understand that the club owns a gazebo. As was witnessed this year at Silverstone I do not have the mobility of the other visitors so I would like to put myself forward for the role of a
gazebo minder while everyone else goes off and does their thing.
In the meantime I will crack on with booking all three days and prayer that the weather will be as good next year.

C u all there.

I can confirm its the heatshield that has(is )rotting away. these dont seem to feature on the 595's comps or rivale (the only models i had to compare with at Donington.

Will do without and decide whether to remove whats left or replace when and if I upgrade the exhaust.

Thanks one and all for all the advice.

My situ is with this protective(?) plate that is rotting away. It must be an original part as it had abarth on it. The exhaust beneath it seems to still be working fine ( I took the car out for a fairly serious thrash today) and there were no issues.

In all the advts Ive seen for exhausts none feature this plate,so I wonder whether I can chop  mine  off without repercussions?

Abarth 500, 595 & 695 / tragic amount of tinworm....help

You will gather from this I am no mechanic but here goes,

Twas attending my first ever AOC event ( Donington) when my new (to mee) Abarth let me down.
There is a large piece of steel which appears to act as a shield for the rear exhaust.Well its completely rotten and starting to fall to pieces.A piece the sisze of a shoebox fell off in my hand, and other bits look ready to abandon the car as well. There is a film of rust on the exhaust underneath though there doesnt appear to be any blowing or holes (yet????).It seems my exhaust is on its way out at some stage.

Perhaps its time to think about a new exhaust at in preparedness for the day when the tinworm wins.

Has anyone else suffered the same fate. Even Mr Abarth (Colin) had not seen anything like it,so I gather its not common.

In terms of replacing it, most seem set on talking me into a Monza kit but I personally dont like the scrawny little pipes out the back. I prefer the cherry bomb look of the two  on the standard fitting. Magnelli Bombardino (or something) Ive seen mentioned but cant find out more. And I was partial to the burble of the Rivale that turned up in Donny.

Comments and suggestions most welcome.

Abarth 500, 595 & 695 / Virgin newbie needs help.
« on: January 16, 2018, 04:03:11 PM »
Hello fellow Abarth  owners....
I am new to the world of Abarths and to this forum.
I recently took delivery of a 500 in black. Its  2012 and relatively low mileage.

recently with my daughter driving I noticed a vibration coming thru the fire wall. It felt like the wheels were out of alignment.
I took it to my local garage and he said it was drive shaft damage. This shocked me as did his comment" Its something a specialist should look at and as its not doing any harm hed wait until it got worse??????"

Weve only done a few hundred miles in it and it definitely wasn't there when I first picked it up.
My initial thought were that I may have kerbed it to make the problem,

So I guess I need some opinions as to whether this is common and any suggestions as to a reliable specialist to take it to, I am in DE4 (Derbyshire) and having read a few posts on this forum, I appreciate the choice of specialist is critical.

Hope you can help,
Jeff

Introductions / abarth newbie
« on: January 16, 2018, 03:46:01 PM »
hello from the Peak District.

I have recently joined the ranks of Abarth owners having purchased an 012 500  in black.

I am a forum newbie and this represents my first posting.

I do hope to be able to join in on Abarth activities and the Silverstone Classic is the type of event I will be looking forward to.

Ive already got a couple of issues ,so will be making a separate post on the 500 section.

Cheers.
