Abarth 124 / Re: 124 - Record Monza exhaust issues
« on: August 02, 2018, 12:23:51 PM »
After 18 months ownership I thought it was about time I checked out whether my exhaust valve was seized and sure enough it was. There was no way it was going to be freed, so yesterday the dealer changed it under warranty. This has, however, thrown up another question. The car will not rev above 3000rpm when stationary, but is fine in normal driving conditions. It was like this before the exhaust was changed but I don't recall if it was like this when I first got the car. It's an automatic. Can anyone throw any light on this?

Abarth 124 / Average Fuel Economy History
« on: February 11, 2018, 03:51:09 PM »
Just had my first service and thought this might mean the Average Fuel Economy History  in Applications (Column 1 on lower part of screen), would  be saved and start recording in Column 2. Not so!

Can this be saved manually, so that recording starts in Column 2? Can't find any references to this in handbooks or on line.

Abarth 124 / Re: Stone chips

How interesting. Does seem to make sense though, as it explains why the bonnet is not black underneath like the boot lid. What about the panel between the bonnet and grille.... presumably this would be a wrap too?

Managed to get my first stone chip in the matt black wrap on the bonnet yesterday.  It's perforated the vinyl - anyone know the best way to treat this?  Tiny blob of touch-up, like I do on the paintwork?

This raises an interesting point, as I have been concerned about looking after the 'Heritage'  matt black finish on mine. I remember, when I purchased the car, asking the dealer about this and he advised that the matt black was all painted! Got that one wrong! Given that the bonnet is a wrap, I presume it could be removed, but what of the panel above the grille - is this a wrap?  The boot appears to be painted as it is black on the underside. It would be good to get some official info on this from Abarth.

Let us know how you get on rsk289 as I would love to know how you resolve this.

Abarth 124 / Re: Top Gear

Well, the idiots on Top Gear clearly didn't get it!  I guess they've got too used to 600 brake Mercs and Astons to appreciate small, lightweight quality.

Went to the GRRC Members' Meeting on Sunday, parked my red one a few cars away from a white one, also with a private plate.  Should have got them together!
Good day's racing, a bit cold, but my Cobra mate was well and truly beaten by a TVR.  Another was running the Ecurie Ecosse Lister Jag in the AS-B trophy, did OK.

Roger

That might have been mine Roger, my plate is YUC 52. Shows how unobservant I am if you were parked near me as I missed yours completely!

Abarth 124 / Re: Album artwork missing

Tested a USB stick and artwork is there! No idea why it only works on USB... shame

Glad it worked for you! Frustrating though that it's the only way it seems to show!

I have persisted with the stubby, having obtained a replacement foc and it now works fine.... result! Must have had a faulty one!

I've downloaded stuff onto a USB, rather than connect to my iPhone  and that shows the artwork with no problems.

Abarth 124 / Drain hole?
« on: March 07, 2017, 03:57:59 PM »
Just noticed that there is masking tape covering a large slot under the bonnet, on the inner wing, near the hinges. This is only on the driver's side. The passenger side doesn't have this. I presume this should just be removed?

Just fitted one of these and I'm very disappointed in the reception, which now has a bit of a crackle on all stations.  Considering the price these sell for (£30.95 incl. post/packing) I expected better.  >:(

Introductions / Newbie in Surrey
« on: January 21, 2017, 06:05:02 PM »
Hi One and All,

Just put a deposit down on a 124 Spider in Turini white with the heritage look. I've hummed and haa'd about this for long enough, but seeing the road test last night on the 'Grand Tour' cast aside any doubts that I might have had. I've now got to be patient and wait, although it shouldn't be long, as the dealer has located a car that's the correct spec and available. Can't wait!
