Abarth 500, 595 & 695 / Re: Car mat confusion
« on: January 15, 2020, 05:42:32 PM »
My plastic studs are literally screwed into the carpet which are not secure but hold in place, then the mats locate onto the stud.

Hope you sort it

Hi Toddo

You can get away with not changing the brake lines of course - but as you're already upgrading the calipers you should upgrade the brake lines at the same time. I would expect the Brembo's would need higher specification lines too

Hi Jomm

You can remove the single plastic stud on the floor - it should just unscrew i think and use the alloy ones from your new mats

Hi Lee
With only that amount of mileage you wouldn't expect an issue. Firstly I would have a look at the rear shock absorber top mounts - its been known that the rubber bushings take a bashing and start to perish. Also have look at the exhaust hangers perhaps? Maybe even checking the spare tyre area under the boot to see if anything has come loose? Other than that take it back to your dealer so they can figure out what the issue is and fix it.

General Chat / Re: Replacing standard horn
« on: November 25, 2019, 01:59:47 PM »
Hello
The horn is located underneath front nearside (passenger) headlight to the right & down from the battery. It is possible to get to it but space is tight down there, another way to get to it is to remove the front wheel and wheel liner. This is a 2010 version  :)

Hello Pikeyboy  :)
I have been looking at LED headlight bulbs too but i would probably go for a Osram/Philips/2020 branded versions as have heard of cheaper alternatives that perform badly. With these you would still have to pay import duty? Also more importantly LED bulbs need to be installed correctly and if not will blind people and fail your MOT. They're not E marked either and potentially will fail your MOT if checked by examiner, also LED bulbs are larger and you would need a replacement cover to keep everything water tight. And I'm not totally convinced that LED's are any brighter than uprated halogens (nightbreakers) i have now at 2/3 times the cost  :-\

« on: November 07, 2019, 10:11:57 AM »
i have seen Fiat 500 rear axle with the torsion bar but it is still a different part number. So i figure there must be another difference?

I would guess too that there must be another difference, but i would also think that the difference would be minor - not much has changed (if anything) with this platform since it was launched

Yep that little IHI with induction kit & a good remap could get you up to 170-180bhp. But i have heard of a Hybrid IHI setup with larger intercooler, intake, 200 cel cat & larger bore exhaust system + remap - 200bhp is possible but not 250 :o

3,800 I think its a fair price, mine is 72,901k and i've fiddled with it constantly and has given me no problems whatsoever. Doesn't need a specialist to service, I have serviced it myself every 6,000 miles with oil & filter change, brake fluid changed every year, spark plugs yearly also. I only have the first 2 years service history.  :-\

Yep for 250bhp the turbo would not be little like the IHI mine and at 72k this little go-cart still keeps me smiling. You may have the Garrett turbo (slightly larger than IHI) which would give you closer to 200bhp with a remap

Enjoy! Stay safe

As far as i am aware the springs for the Essesse are Eibach Pro's (red version), at least that was the branding on mine when i changed them
