There was a map upgrade in January, but I haven't been able to update my SD card.
The card is too small to take both European and Russian upgrades - when I go to "select region" (to download only the Euro map) I get a load of server errors.
(The same procedure worked fine for the November update).
Anyone else getting this problem?
-
Do you need the Russian maps? As I recall when I did this last I had the same situation and just deselected Russia.
-
Problem is, when I go to select European only (no Russian), then I get a server error and can't get any further.
Have you tried it?
-
I just tried to do the update (several times!) but got virtually the same server problem message after selecting "Manage Content" then "Region".
-
Not just me then!
Annoying because there have been lots of changes to roads recently - cycle lanes, pedestrianisation and rat runs being closed off.
-
I've sent screenshots of the app to FCA UK - let's see if anything comes of it. It's Naviextras problem to resolve I think. No one else has pitched in on this - are we the only two? Incidentally I am a Mac user.
-
Windows 10 here.
From what I have picked up elsewhere -
1 There were problems with the American upgrade rollout (which was fixed pretty quickly)
2 It is Mazda that has to sort the problem out.
So long as they fix it before the lockdown ends ....
-
I did try copying the SD card to a bigger card (16GB). It did the upgrade OK on Map Update but when I put it in the car the nav would not load and I was just left with the continuous spinning wheel!
-
There are some digital rights management files hidden in a part of the SD card which isn't accessed by copying in a computer.
It ***may*** be possible to transfer these files to a bigger card by cloning the card, but it isn't clear whether the cloning software accesses the hidden away files either - so it could be a bit of a workup only to be done as a last resort if fiat/mazda don't fix the problem.
-
CD Pond on the American site 124spider.org has just posted extremely detailed instructions for cloning the Nav card under Windows.
It doesn't need any special software - it uses the built-in XCOPY command.
I'm going to order a new SD card!
UPDATE
I've just followed the procedure and it works perfectly.
The new card updated OK and works fine in the car.

Just as well as I have just heard from Abarth in Italy that there is no resolution to upgrading the existing card as Naviextras have removed the option to exclude certain regions in the upgrade process. This may run on for several months as apparently thousands of cars are affected but my free updates expire in September 2021 so I will probably miss out.

Just done the XCOPY routine on to my 16GB SD card. Worked a treat!

I'm not a fan of the original satnav, so don't use it. I stick Google maps on my phone and use that.
