Has anyone fitted these to their 124 Spider? I can see they are going to get quite marked after time and it would be nice to cover the target area, preferably with an Abarth logo. Where can I get a couple?
-
ive never even heard of them but would like some myself
-
There seem to be quite a few owners complaining that they catch the sill when entering- and these are the careful ones! The passenger will not usually take such care.
-
My problem is I keep scratching the plastic bit not the painted bit
-
Exactly! I notice the new MX5 has some aftermarket protectors but I can't find any with an Abarth logo. I've sent for some cheapos from China which are black with a minimal red stripe and I'll report back when they arrive. They only protect the plastic bit.
-
is that to cover the plastic bit as you get in
-
Yes - that's the bit that gets kicked.
-
When you get them please let me know if there ok I cant find them anywhere if you have a link that would be nice.
Cheers Geoff
-
Will do Geoff.
Cheers Rob
-
Nice one thanks mine already had marks on them when I got the car it was an ex demo
-
Any news on the Sill protectors yet ??
-
They're on the slow boat from China!
-
my god
-
Well they've arrived and they look a bit naff. I might consider using them further down the line if the scuffing on the sills gets worse and if no other protector is available. They are self adhesive strips which are claimed to be carbon fibre (!) . The Mazda-type option is far better of course as it sits in the groove in the sill but unfortunately I cannot find an Abarth (or even just plain) equivalent. Couldn't of course contemplate using a Mazda one!
-
They look like the ones you pit on the metal bits not the plastic bit ive seen on you tube guys using a heat gun that gets rid of all the marks from the plastic but I haven't had the guts to give it a try .
-
I don't suppose if anyone knows if there is rubber matts available for the spider I cant find them anywhere I might just get some rubber and cut round the the ones what are there .
-
Just bought some rubber mats for my spider they are an exact match to the original they even have the holes for the clips you cant find them on the website under spider abarth you have to look on ebay under mx5 Mk 4 they are exactly the same £20 including delivery.
-
Are they plain or do they have Mazda logos? If you are happy with them which eBay vendor sold them?
-
no logo just plain
-
These are the ones I got I thought it was the £20 ones with the holes for the clips
-
And if you just want replacement carpets with the clips the MX5 MK4 are exactly the same and 11 quid on ebay but if you buy the spider ones they are 25 to 33 quid and none have any logo
-
I bought a spare pair from one of the Abarth dealers - the metal Abarth logo came separately, IIRC
-
Ive ordered rubber matts and taken out the matts that came with the car
-
Ordered some as I intend using the car during the winter
-
You cant really go wrong for that price and the carpet matts are a good price aswell
-
Got my rubber matts today quite good quality for 15 quid
-
Can someone give me the auction number for the carpet mats?
The rubber ones are number 372306278609 if it helps (thanks Geoffxb, I've just ordered a set).
-
I’ve fitted some nice looking 124 spider sill emblems - not really a protector just another badge 8) got these through 21st Century Fiat, from a very nice Italian chap last time I look they were out of stock.
I like the fact the emblem says “124 Spider” and not Abarth! There is enough of those :o .
-
I like them where did you get them from
-
I bought a pair of factory replacement sill trims to put away and fit when I need to.

Just received a pair of the '124 Spider' trim plates from Francesco in Italy, they're really smart. Very pleased with them.

They look (and are) exactly the same as those in the photo Brooko posted in post #27 in this thread.
