Title: Recommend me a Wax!
Post by: noddyrocket on June 07, 2017, 01:23:54 PM
Folks, I'm looking to try a new wax on my red Trofeo. I'm currently using Collinite 476 but would like an alternative.

I'd like mega beading and durability.  Suggestions please!

Britemax Vantage and Bouncers (any of the range) are my go to's.

So I have a trial tub of Jayswax Show Wax v2 to try at the weekend, will report back!

Also saw some Britemax Vantage (as recommended by Fish;) in use  at a classic car show over the weekend and this may well get a trial soon too.

Collinite 476 is not really a true wax. For a true wax try Auto Finesse Spirit.

Jayswax is a great product

I must admit the Jayswax does smell great and I am looking forward to trying it out over the weekend. :)

Noddy, let me see if I've got a spare bit of vantage at home for you to try.

So I gave the Jayswax Showwax v2 ago and the gloss reflection is superb. Will get a picture up when I wash the car next.

My only (very) minor complaint is that it isn't the easiest to apply.

Having used Poorboys Natty's Paste Wax and also the Collinite 476 on other cars before, you need to apply Jays very thinly and evenly. As it takes a bit more time to apply, I don't see me using as often as I'd like.

I'm normally pushed for time to wax the car, but apart from that its a great wax.

Tonight I tried out a Britemax Vantage sample on the test car (the Mrs Panda!)

Very impressed with the easy of application on this and it comes off again easily if you apply too much.

It's a pure wax so doesn't contain any paint cleaners like the Collinite 476, but it gave the rarely waxed Panda a nice wet, glossy shine.

Liking this one and it smells great too (slightly vanilla)

Thanks to Mr Fish for his help on this one. Apologies for the poor pic!

Pics looking good, what prep work did you do first, or was it just a straight wash n wax?

That was a straight wash and wax.

I have tried it on the Abarth since, and that has had the full Carlack paint cleaner treatment, then the Britemax with Gtechniq C2 used as a speed detailer or extra protection on top 8)
