Just interested to see how many miles everyone will be covering in their Abarth. I know it's a second car for a number of members, I'll probably cover about 12,000 this year. Not the most appropriate for that many miles but I still love it every time I go out! :)
-
We use ours usually 3 days a week (weekend and a friday for that friday fun drive home feeling) and did about 5-6k last year.
I find my runs tons better is used more tho, when it seems to sit something goes wrong lol
-
I do close to 50k a year, but only 5-6k in the Abarth 8)

I don't know if it's just me but the car feels much quicker in the cold mornings
-
Had mine exactly a year and done 9000 which i don't think is too bad really considering its an everyday car :)
-
6-8k miles per year. Certainly disagree with the cold start having better performance, find it is jutters a lot more trying to pull away compared to when the engine is heated up.
-
I've done 10,000 miles since the end of March last year, so it's going to be 12,000 a year.
I had to sell my old AGP Esseesse as I did 25,000 miles in one year.... That cost a bit in fuel! :o
-
12 month summary from fill up app.
Distance driven-4473mls
fuel purchased -670Ltrs(55 per month)
Fuel cost-£905(£75 per month)(£0.202 per mile)
Fuel economy(max) 38.04mpg
fuel economy(avg) 32mpg.
-
Which App do you use? I've just got a fill up app but it works off trips made. unless im using it wrong?
-
this one on android.
-
That one looks more simple and better, i have iPhone so just trying a few different ones
-
I averaged about 3500 miles a year in my old car.
However, I have already done 750 miles in the Abarth and I've only had it 6 weeks! That's a hell of a lot for me. I'm trying to get the first lot of miles on before booking a trackday... and I just can't help but drive it. 8) ;D
-
I've done about 3500 miles a year in the Abarth - mostly to meets and events.
The S5 Sportback does the motorway and urban grind for me. Between 20 - 25,000 miles a year in that.
-
6000 a year!
-
About 3000-4000 a year.
It comes out to meets, weekends when weather is decent.
Its on 12800ish miles but i would say 90% of those miles are classed as "pointless driving" around miles lol like random drives ;D
-
Probably do about 15K a year, of which about 7-8K in the Abarth. She doesn't go out much in winter.
-
I don't know if it's just me but the car feels much quicker in the cold mornings
Being retired (a bit early by the way ;D), I reckon we do about 10k miles a year mainly because my eldest son lives down towards Spa Francorchamps and we like to go and see him and his family as often as we can. It's not your imagination! Petrol engines, especially turbo's, do produce more power when air temperature is lower. Conversely, they produce less when it's hot. I used to fly (general aviation not pro.) and when flying from 'hot and high' airfields, it is vital to calculate the reduction in power this will produce when working out ones max. take off weight etc. Not taking this into account has and will continue to kill people :(
-
Nice to know I'm not losing it then Harry!
-
I probably do around 9000 miles a year. I have a 35 mile round trip to work every day but don't really use it too much at the weekend.
-
I have done 1000 miles since 1st September
Used and abused
-
Had mine since September 2013 and its on 17, 200 miles 😦 I put the first thousand on within the first week because I didn't want to get out of it ha.
-
15000 a year easy, I only put 2000 a year towards that as the other half uses it everyday😞
-
Mine is my only car but as I don't have a commute (takes me just less than two mins to walk to work lol!) I just have a school run to do every day then whatever I do at the weekend, weekly shop etc so about 5k a year.
-
8-10k but since changed my job and work at my local Fiat dealer so probably going to be more like 5-6k this year :)
-
I've done over 4,000 miles in mine since the 12th of November, is that bad?
-
No not at all. You must love driving your 'barth ;)
-
Probably around 6-8k a year.
Me around 1-2k & the remaining mileage is the fiancée travelling to uni & back at the weekends.
-
I do an average of 50k a year (40k in the UK) and 10k overseas in hire cars
In the UK I do a lot of work in Central London so use my 500c Twinair for that as it is Congestion Charge Free, saves £12 a day driving into Central London
Twinair is 3 years old this month and done 55k in total.
Used to use a Diesel Focus for the long outside London trips, but it was sapping my will to live. So have changed that for the 500c Abarth, and will be using that for the out of London stuff, estimate to be putting 20-25k a year on it.
Yes it will cost a lot more in fuel than the Focus but at least I won't want to slit my wrists each time I get in it...
-
Must be about 6-8k, I do like going for pointless drives :)
-
I'm going to say about 6, I haven't even done 10k yet (nearly there) it's 2 in July!
-
I do about 15,000 a year.
-
I do about 1500 miles a year in Luigi, not enough really. Will try harder this year to driver him more. :D
-
extremely average 1000 miles a month, hit 72000 the day before the cars 6th birthday
-
It's up to 1,100 now.
And it's 6 month old 8) 8)
-
I do around 50,000 in theworks van but only 5,000 in the abarth
-
Hit 10,000 this morning in 14 months, enjoyed every mile
-
As its a second car and basically a toy - I normally cover about 4-5k per year. Joy to drive though... So might increase
-
around 15k
9k is for the boring work commute and the rest is personal hooning :)
-
Had 28k on the clock in dec, just hit 35k.. :'(
-
About 25k
-
had my car for 2 years and done 35,000 already :/
Thats only in the Swift sport as I dont have my abarth yet. I'm hoping to do loads less if I can.
-
Done so far 4500 miles since 22nd of April, continue this route will easily reach 10k
-
Averaging about 6,000 per year.
-
Around 12,500 p/yr, hopefully see a decrease in usage as I've moved closer to my office. Love every mile, just a shame services come around so quickly!
-
Only 3000 per year ( not used for work ) based on my previous fiat 500 lounge. But hope to be out a lot more joy Riding. Might drive to Great Yarmouth Main prom, as that is used a lot for people cruising their cars. I understand Brighton is probably one of the best places especially at night for showing the cars. Not sure if that's the case still
-
Now i'm on 8450miles on the clock so done since 22nd of April 6685miles with in 6 months
-

So, I've now had the car 9.5 months and I've clocked up the 3500 I used to average a year! I reckon I could add another 1000 come December when the car is a year old - I am hoping to do Brands Hatch on 5th Dec, just before he 1st birthday.
I just can't help but drive the little thing. ;D
-
Uppssss looking the last post I have done nearly 1000miles with in 40 days....o dear in 500miles will hit 10000m...this miles looks to me counting like doubles sometimes, have to slow down after 10000m :( :( :(
-
5000- 6000 . I an retired so spend time in Derbyshire hills , flogging red death on the red line . 8)
-
Probably 5/6K but several more unrecorded behind my motorhome!
-

ah - do you tow a car behind your Winnebago? :)
-
WOW! I'm rarely speechless, but this surely must be a first on the forum! Abarth on tow - and not because it's broken down, lol. Good-size RV, too! Much kudos for what is without any doubt the most unusual use of an Abarth ever ;D

All I tend to see normally are Smarts or C1s so got quite a lot of attention last time out.
-
I bet you did! My husband and I salute you, Audiseller! 8)
-
Could towing a car like this ruin the transmission?
-
Could towing a car like this ruin the transmission?
No. It's a manual.
-
Some automatics can be towed, some manual cars can't,Don’t assume that because a vehicle is a manual transmission it can be towed. Not all cars can be towed with 4 wheels on the ground. Check with the manufacturer. Many standard transmission cars can be towed, but not all. Some have a transmission lubrication pump that requires the engine to be running. Some automatics can be towed as well.

As you say, they are all different. I've towed Smarts for years but unfortunately cannot tow a DSG gearboxed car. I had confirmation from the dealership's service department that it can be flat-towed before I bought. Quite a few a-framed 500s about but yet to see an Abarth.
-
I did 14k last year but that included two trips to Spa in Belgium and a trip to Paris as well, given its the second car it gets a fair bit of use as its such fun to drive, that what I hear everyone say about the 500's
Mageo
-
white a500 spotted in church lane in cheshunt, looked to have akrapovic exhaust. sounded great gave a friendly abarth nod
-
I did about 16,000 miles last year as my daily commute is 30 miles.
Debating whether to get a cheap-ish runner for the daily grind, as to be quite honest, I don't want to rack up a high mileage in the 595c.
I plan on keeping it for at least four years, probably easier said than done because I kept the previous 595c for only 21 months.
-
More than I need to as I always take the long way ;D
-
I am well under allot of these numbers at the minute, I think my current figure for a year is about five & a half thousand miles a year.
In my current Mini I've driven just over 12 thousand miles & I have until July before I part exchange my car for an Abarth Competizione.
My very first car which was also a Mini I drove over 16 thousand in three years so averaging about just under six thousand miles a year maybe.
I just find that I don't really go out just to drive anyway like I used to when I got my first car, there used to be a good load of friends that would meet up in Guild Hall or Devils Point in Plymouth for a drive around & just to chat & show off any new mods or even a new car but that has died down so much now it's not worth even leaving the house now.
But with my Abarth I do plan on driving just to drive really as this is the first car that I really feel like going out to drive around & show off if you will. My current car is a Clubman & that's not really a car I want to drive for the sake of driving. It doesn't have the excitement factor to me, it's just a car used to go shopping in.
With all the road works & repairs around Plymouth at the minute it's more of a hassle just to drive around at the minute as half of the time your sitting in natural waiting to move an inch or so. Once they are all done hopefully be summer time I can be out up on the Hoe with a couple of my car friends doing the old driving loops we used to.
-
A lot more than the plan ... It was supposed to be 3-4K a year as a 3rd car ... The thing is it keeps escaping off the driveway ...
-
I have done 14560m with in 1year....dauly car and going abroad
-
Just got mot'd done 9000 since the last one
-
I bought my Competizione 180 Last November and have now clocked 1800 miles 😁
-
round 4000 which makes it easy for the insurance but like most of us I tend to find the long way round just to enjoy the driving time
-
3000 in the abarth :)
-
Had my 595 Competitione 180 since last June and so far done 7k.Only do 50 per week to work so mostly used for travel to/from events. Do a few trackways now - next one Oulton Park 19 April so if u are in the area come and take a look - spectators always welcome at MSV Circuits
-
Mostly motorway miles to and from work but around 12000, I am hoping the engine holds up to the mileage as this is my first Abarth and i have driven Honda for years, Was probably a bad choice to commute in but it makes me so happy every time i turn the key.
Darko
-
Bought on March 1st 2012 and I've done 133k miles.
I think I won! Lol
-
1year and 2 months and done already 21200m ;D ;D ;D
-
My one was new in 2011 and had 26500 when I bought it in January, now up to 30000, around 500 of that was just the drive home :o
-
Haven't owned the car too long but I normally average about 9000 a year
-
Just got my fantastic abarth and done 150 miles but usually do around 4K a year. Use the wife's car for long journeys 😉
-
I am curious of how many runs people were able to get last weekend. I would like to take two bikes in June, but am curious of how many runs I might be able to get in.
-
I do close to 50k a year, but only 5-6k in the Abarth 8)
That sounds like such a lot. 165 miles a day. I do about 15,000 per year.
-
I find I drive this car more than any others Ive had, I enjoy driving this car.
-
Just hit 162k. bought brand new on March the 1st 2012
-
Exactly 7,000 this year
-
Had mine 6yrs now and average about 5k a year.
-
Too much for work and not enough for pleasure
-
I was like that but now my commute is like a instalment of fast and furious as I pretend I'm being chased ( slow down for the cams) just like vin deisel does lol
-
I drive 15-20K per year, the Abarth is now my only vehicle and to be honest I'm happy at the thought that everyone will be in the Comp!
Smiles per miles baby!
-
5000 a year between all 3
-
In my 595 Turismo probably no more than two or three thousand as it`s my wife`s daily driver and my toy at the weekend.
Insured for eight thousand per year.
My company car gets twenty thousand put on it each year. Hope that helps you in some way.

Now at 174,000. Still running well but I think the head gaskets going to need replacing soon. She's starting to use oil which has never been the case. 😔

What sort of things have you replaced over that mileage ?? Mine has just hit 50k and I thought that was high for one of these cars its good to see yours is still going well at 174k as i need to keep mine for 3 more years so will probably be up at 100k by then.
Cheers Darko

Seat folder handle went at 58k and they didn't honour warranty. Front drivers wheel bearing, rear passenger wheel bearing (pain in the arse to change), cam sensor, maf sensor, drivers wishbone, alternator x3 (twice was the regulator), starter motor, front passenger shock, exhaust flexy, coolant bottle, just changed the engine top mounts. Bottom one was changed in 2015. 👍

Not bad at all for 174k miles and kudos for using her as she is meant to be, these cars are to be driven!
Burning oil my guess would rocker cover gasket or piston rings perhaps?
Is the rear axle still solid (no rust) at this mileage? I've read the spring perch plate can snap when it's badly rusted. I've used Dynax wax to protect mine.

Thats Pretty good considering the mileage and as said these cars are meant to be driven
Thank you

The only bit of rust on it is the top of the front struts. It's as solid as when I collected it in 2012.
The piston rings were my first thought but we'll see in a couple weeks. I'm going to treat her to a decoke by hand as I'm off for the week. I'm also a race instructor so it goes round the track a bit but not for students.
Thanks Darko. She's a work horse so normally does 50 hours of lessons a week. I will miss her when she's retires! Lol
